Abstract

This study evaluates the vital sign detection capability of millimeter-wave radar in semi-open interactive environments, addressing the lack of systematic research in non-partitioned scenarios. This study focuses on three types of vital sign signals: respiratory rhythm, variations in activity intensity, and subtle movements, evaluating the detection capability of millimeter-wave radar in non-partitioned scenarios and exploring its potential applications in human-computer interaction. Experimental results indicate that millimeter-wave radar can stably recognize respiratory frequency and activity state transitions under semi-open conditions, while exhibiting certain instability in detecting fine-grained micro-movements. The study suggests that millimeter-wave vital sign sensing is more suitable for privacy-friendly interactive systems based on presence detection and state recognition, and provides practical reference for future environment-aware and unobtrusive interaction design.
