Abstract

This article aims to deeply explore the crucial role of semiconductor materials in the conversion of photovoltaic energy. Firstly, the basic principle of photovoltaic energy conversion was introduced, including related concepts such as the photovoltaic effect. Then, the core position of semiconductor materials in photoelectric conversion devices was elaborated in detail, and the characteristics of different types of semiconductor materials (such as silicon-based semiconductors, compound semiconductors, etc.) and their applications in typical photoelectric conversion equipment such as solar cells were analyzed. Meanwhile, the influence mechanism of microscopic characteristics such as the band structure and carrier transport of semiconductor materials on the photoelectric conversion efficiency was explored. The challenges currently faced by semiconductor materials in the field of photoelectric energy conversion, such as cost and stability issues, were also studied, providing theoretical support and research directions for further improving the efficiency of photoelectric energy conversion.
